TRAFFIC SENSE...
The Rare & highly missing element in today's Bumper to Bumper traffic...
Screeching Brakes, constant Honking, verbal Abuse, the Adrenalain Rush... all these factors are on 'Live Telecast' everyday in every city of the world, particularly in the Indian Sub-continent and largely dominant in India, due to the 125 Crore population.
If 'Traffic Manners' was given due importance in Issuing a Driving Licence, 80% Driving Licence Applications would be Rejected.
Believe me, the age factor has nothing to do with the above mentioned features, which are actually ingrained from young days and a lot of it depends on the family Upbringing and surroundings of a person. In fact Traffic Rules are broken by senior citizens with a quiet confidence, as if age has granted them a permit to do so.
Traffic Rules are blatantly broken from all ages between 18 to 88 or till whichever age one can drive upto.
Traffic Sense or the absence of it largely reflects on a person's Psychology and His/Her way of thinking and Attitude to life. Be it a wheel or a handle, the moment a person is behind it and has it under his control... there is an automatic feeling of Leadership and Command. From this point starts a journey which can tell a silent observer about the Driver's basic upbringing and nature.
Straight Drivers : These are people who drive on a normal straight track and dont believe in taking bends like ( or ), swerving on the left or right to surge ahead. The ones who take these Bends will not hesitate to take Bends in their way of Life also. They want to surge ahead of the rest at any cost...
Short Cuts : Some drivers always follow a particular route on their way to Work and back. They will never change the route even if they have to face Traffic Jams or slow vehicular movement. There are those who will change their Route at the drop of th hat, will take Short cuts anytime even if the Short cut proves longer. These are people who in their way of Life also, take such decisions, one can call them adventurous also But not Wise !
Anger n Abuse : Many Drivers use driving and the traffic as their Anger Outlet... They will shout, scream, abuse and try to dominate the so called lesser beings in the traffic around them. Though most of the time in todays Airconditioned cars, only those inside hear all the verbal nonsense dished out, Specially Wives & Trust me that these are Husbands who are like a 'Silent Movie' at home, dominated by their women. They effectively use Traffic as their Anger Ventilator. This kind of an attitude directly reflects on a person's upbringing & never mistake my friends... U will hear & see this behaviour from the most expensive set of wheels on the roads. Money never could Buy 'Culture', could it ?
Speed Kings : These people suffer from the 'Right Hand' or 'Right Foot' disorder, depending on whether they are on a 2 Wheeler or a 4 Wheeler. They love to Speed drive in traffic... zooming & screeching at will, giving the faint hearted many missed heartbeats. They have a "High Risk" attitude towards life and enjoy such cheap thrills. They will even risk their co-passengers along with themselves and feel like a Winner when they touch down. Troubled faces and anxiety filled expressions of their co-passengers give them a HIGH !
Parking Sons Disease : Now this is a very crucial & serious disorder prevalent amongst 80% Drivers... The Maniac Parkers, as I call them. They have the efficiency and expertise to park their vehicle anywhere & anyhow. In fact most of them park their vehicles wherever it finally Stops !!
Can U beat that ?
Now observe my observation after you read this...
This is prominent in India, specially at Spots like Pan Shops, Tea Stalls, Snack Outlets, Provision Stores etc. & they all have one ready dialogue - DO MINUTE MEIN AA RAHA HOON... Will be back in 2 minutes. Take my word guys, neither does Maggi cook in 2 minutes, nor do these Parkers come back in 2 minutes.
They are major contributors to Traffic Jams in cities, where the normal traffic is on a constant flow. These " Parking Sons " park simply anywhere with not even the slightest remorse or fear. I wish I could show U some pics of horrendous parking.
Now... these people are those who Never Bother about anyone else in their life. They only do what is convenient for them. They reflect completely 'Careless Upbringing' and their 'Crude Mentality'.
Wrong... ya Right Side ? : A Huge cause of worry in the last decade, according to my observation... since Fuel Rates have gone up.
These Wrong Side Drivers are a Life Hazard on the roads and are humongously present in every city. They will drive on the 'Wrong Side' of the road with supreme confidence and will Never look into your Eyes...
They shake the confidence of those drivers who are driving properly, making them wonder whether they are Wrong ya Right ?
These Wrong Side Drivers are either trying to save fuel or time, none of the two more important than the Lives they put to risk. Many accidents happen as we dont expect a vehicle to come from a direction it shouldnt.
Horny Drivers : Major contributors to the " Noise Pollution " in Third World countries and fast developing countries like India... These relentless HONKERS literally irritate the rest with Mindless Honking, Honking in Song Tunes, Honking in a stuck up Traffic Jam ( as if the vehicles ahead are parked in a Picnic spot or that they will suddenly become Helicopters & take off ).
In advanced countries... Honking is equivalent to saying F... Off to someone and here in India, they literally F... Us with their honking.
Rule Breakers : Compulsive social criminals these are... They will exactly do the opposite of what they are supposed to do.
Parking right below a NO PARKING Sign...
Jumping the RED Light ( Red for them means Green, they are colour blind )...
Stopping their Vehicle on the ZEBRA CROSSING...
Spitting & Throwing Litter on the roads...
UFFF... I Rest My Case !
KYA TRAFFIC SENSE KE - ACCHEY DIN AAYENGE ?

Very very correct bro
ReplyDeleteThanks Rakesh... Please SHARE the Link bro !
DeleteGood article! I agree 100%. But I think the traffic police has to upgrade their public image too. Instead of taking bribes shamelessly, they should be strict and impartial to whoever shows poor traffic sense and commits an offense.
ReplyDeletePartially agree with you Ritesh. ..
DeleteWe give opportunity to Traffic Police, to Fine Us and to avoid punishment we in turn Bribe them.
