MOVIE MASTI...

MAI AUR CHARLES

My Review :

When I Booked my Tickets online... It was literally Mai ( Me ) and Charles.
I had the unspoken right to choose my seats and finally when the Movie started, there were about 10 - 12 of us and Charles ( monday evening of course )
SAD but true...

A Well made Movie, specially if you like the Old English Movie style of Lighting,  mostly dark n shadowy.
Randeep Hooda performs like a classic golfer... His stylish, smooth, suave and well controlled performance  is as close to the 'Bikini Killer' Sobhraj as it can get. His Make-Up, Costumes and Body Language backed by the accent ( English with a French twist ) takes His performance a few notches higher.

Charles Sobhraj was always an enigma in the Crime World, a con artist with silken moves and a Lady Charmer who could handle the female Vipers n Cobras with elan. Randeep takes us there & how.

I for one Luv Bio-pics, though I found the Editing of this one, a bit muddled up. The Writer - Director Prawaal Raman has done a wonderful job and re-created  the 80's very effectively. From Thailand to India... Goa, Mumbai Delhi, this Film captures it all, specially the Bikini, Weed & Booze Hippie culture of Goa and the Most daring Jail Break at the famous 'Tihar Jail'.

The Cinematography is top of the line and so is the very effective Background Score. Richa Chadda has also stood her ground with defiant acting & good dialogues ( He (charles) can escape from anywhere, no one can escape from him ), backed by a solid performance by Adil Hussain, as the 'MAI' of the Title, playing Delhi Top Cop Amod Kanth. Tisca Chopra is almost wasted as Amod Kanth's wife.

If you were ever enchanted by the enigmatic Charles Sobhraj, you must have a Dekko and be ready to be seduced... both by Randeep Hooda & the Film.

My Rating : * * *
